In July of 2009, Kiducation contracted Riverview Homes with the proposal to allow them to place their pick up bins at 7 of Riverview's retail locations. RHI's locations are in good areas, along well-traveled roads, which are perfect for Kiducation needs. Any unwanted, usable, clothing and shoes can be placed in the bins, and Kiducation empties the bins on a regular schedule. Kiducation then turns the donated clothes into funds, which are distributed to local schools and charities.
"We have been collecting clothing for over 2 years now, and the continuing results are very pleasing," explains Robert Fanelli, President of Riverview Homes, Inc. "Part of the appeal of doing this program was the fact that we were able to pick a charity of our choice for a portion of the funds to be donated to. Not only are the schools and libraries benefiting, but the American Cancer Society, a local charity that our company and family have close ties with, is also benefiting," says Robert.
Since July 2009, Riverview's bins have collected 37,257 pounds of donated clothing and shoes from the local community. These clothes are turned into cash donations for Kiducation and in Riverview's case, the American Cancer Society has received a total of $1,117 in donations from the funds. Mr. Fanelli states, "Riverview likes to be involved with the community and we hope to continue working with Kiducation in the future, raising money for two great local causes."
